Our Mission And goal

The Southern Ohio Procurement Outreach Center’s purpose is to identify business firms that are qualified to sell their goods and services to the Department of Defense (DoD), other federal agencies, and state government programs.

This process can result in a stimulation of the economy which leads to economic growth and creation of jobs.

The SO Procurement Outreach Center can provide specialized services that meet specific business needs.

Internet Based Procurement Sources/Business Opportunities Searched Daily By the Procurement Technical Assistance Centers for Ohio Small Business Clients:

  • Federal - Includes FedBizOpps (replaced the CBD), DLA (Defense Logistics Agency), DoD "Blue Tops" press releases, misc. federal web sites, and EDI (Electronic Data Interchange).

  • Non-Federal  (PDF*) - Over 400 state and local agencies, and growing.

  • International - Agricultural leads, foreign trade opportunities, and Japanese tenders.

  • Local - Leads that are gathered, formatted, coded, and sent daily to CMS by the Procurement Assistance Center. These leads are then distributed ONLY to that center's bid-match clients. There is no additional charge for this service.

  • Acquire necessary registration with various government agencies.

  • Develop a marketing plan that identifies government agencies who buy your products and/or services.

  • Identify sub-contracting opportunities that increase your business.

  • Understand and utilize Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and Value Added Networks (VANS) that access government contracting information.

  • Utilize reference and resource materials.

Federal Business Opportunities (Fed Biz Opps) is a daily listing of all upcoming contracts from the federal government over $25,000. The SO Procurement Outreach Center matches your company’s products and/or services to solicitations in Fed Biz Opps. The solicitations that match your products/services are delivered to you daily by e-mail or fax.

As other solicitations and notices are located throughout the coverage area, the SO Procurement Outreach Center posts these on the bulletin board as well as fax or e-mail notices to specific businesses who have matching interests.

Our website can connect you to a number of federal and state procurement web pages that have up-to-date information on upcoming bids.

The federal government spends over 300 billion ($300,000,000,000) dollars each year on goods and /or services. . .and they are purchasing a large portion from small businesses.

Government agencies are utilizing Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) formats and the World Wide Web (Internet) to transact business.

The SO Procurement Outreach Center will provide your firm with assistance that can lead to sales to these government agencies. The SO Procurement Outreach Center can help you properly use electronic commerce formats to your advantage.

THE SO Procurement Outreach Center has a number of resources to assist you:

The SO Procurement Outreach Center serves 10 southeastern Ohio counties which include:

The 10 county area covers 5,130 square miles with a population of 430,805. The SO Procurement Outreach Center is located in South Point, Ohio which is in Lawrence County.
